Systematic thinking habits-woodmam

4. Self-assessment

Monday morning, you struggle to get out of bed again, you feel it is too difficult for you.

you have more dirty socks than you can pile up, but you still don't want to wash them.

You have never been in the habit of folding the quilt.

You want to do some chores, such as cleaning your room, but you are slow to do it. You always have various reasons for not doing it, such as you are too tired to study and you want to watch TV.

You always say you want to exercise, "I should run ...... from next Monday."

you are too busy studying so that you have never washed the dishes once, even though you are already a middle school student.

you think it's good to be able to polish your leather shoes, as for how to polish them black and shiny, and not get your hands dirty you never thought about it.

You never thought that boys should do housework too, and even if they had to learn, it would be for girls.

I don't know how to fix a TV, so I can't do it, but mopping the floor is too easy, so there's no need to learn.

  Part VII habits of thinking

The first chapter to develop good habits

A, the habit of systematic thinking

  1. concepts and connotations

One day the youngest son of a systematics expert suddenly asked, "Dad, people call you a systematics expert, can you tell me what is the system?" The father looked at his son, who was still in elementary school, and for a moment did not know where to start. He pondered a little and asked, "And what do you think is a system?"

The son said smugly, "I think the system seems to be a very advanced machine."

The father could not help but laugh at this and said, "Good, really worthy of being the son of a systematist, it is not easy to think of this step. However, I still have to tell you that system is not a very advanced machine, it is just a concept."

The son listened puzzled and asked, "And what is a concept?"

The systematist patiently explained, "A concept is a word that can represent in general terms many phenomena with similar properties. For example, the concept of animal can represent fish, bird, tiger, human, etc. in a general way. And the concept of human can be generalized to mean all people such as adults, children, old people, men, women, etc."

The son asked again, "And what is the concept of system? The father continued, "A system is a special concept that can represent many concepts in a general way, such as a flower, a drop of water, a fish, a car, a person, an army, a country, an earth, the whole universe, we can say in a general way that they are a system." Hearing this, the son said happily, "Dad, I see, a system is not a high-level machine, it is a high-level concept that can govern all the concepts, bigger than them all, just like a commander, am I right?" The father looked at his son and said with tears and laughter, "For you to understand this level of relationship is already rare, what else can I say?"

Systematic thinking is a kind of pattern thinking, it is different from creative thinking or image thinking and other instinctive thinking form, is the highest level of human thinking mode mastered so far, in human history there is no concept like "system" that can profoundly affect the modern way of thinking, and there is no abstract thinking method can be as systemic thinking No abstract way of thinking can be as quickly accepted, understood and applied to guide the practical activities of thinking by ordinary people.

The importance of systems thinking is reflected in two ways.

First, it can greatly simplify people's perception of things.

For modern people, it is not knowledge or information that is lacking. On the contrary, the knowledge and information that modern people have is far beyond their actual ability to manage, so that people do not know where to think. In this case, it is necessary to have a simplification tool to reprogram the knowledge and information we have, so that they are streamlined and organized, and a certain amount of "memory" is cleared for the brain to have space for thinking.

Another importance of systems thinking is the holistic view it gives us.

In the past, people used to analyze and solve problems by breaking things down and analyzing their components. This partial view of the mode of thinking is certainly conducive to thinking deep into the interior of things for detailed examination, but ignored the point that on a macroscopic scale, things exist in the form of the whole, the detailed study of the local does not fully explain the overall behavior of things, in order to grasp things as a whole, it is necessary to analyze the various parts according to some structural pattern of unity, so as to reach the right conclusion.

This is especially valid for our primary and secondary school students, take the secondary school level of history knowledge, to learn a thousand pieces of knowledge, if we do not have a systematic concept of these fragmented knowledge into an orderly whole, then we master it is very difficult.

  2. Cultivation points

First, focus on the whole of things.

The so-called holistic approach is to analyze and deal with problems in the process, always consider the whole, the whole in the first place, rather than let any part of the thing override the whole.

Marx once said: many people collaborate, many forces fuse into a total force, resulting in a "new force", "this force and the sum of its individual forces are essentially different". Engels also said, "If we fail to grasp the connection of the whole, we become entangled in one contradiction after another." They are both talking about the holistic method of thinking.

The holistic approach requires orienting thinking about the problem to the whole picture and the whole, and starting from the whole picture and the whole. It is about the interconnection of things, the whole and the relationship between the parts of the thinking method, if you should use the overall thinking, but do not use the holistic thinking method, then whether in the macro or micro aspects, will suffer losses have serious consequences:.

One year, near the village of Shuang Yuan, Deng Zhuang Township, Hai'an County, the rice fields were golden, and the rice waves were undulating with the wind, a scene of harvest. Strangely enough, in this wave of rice, there is a piece of land rice sparse, yellow short and thin, and a large block of flush field into a sharp contrast.

What is this? The original area of 2.5 acres of the field was generally dug up a foot deep topsoil, sold to a brick and tile factory, the owner of the field got 1000 yuan. As the surface of the cooked soil was dug, the organic matter content was sharply reduced, and the wheat seedlings on the spring this year grew like rusty nails, and the summer wheat crop was less than 150 pounds per mu. After the rice was planted, despite the base fertilizer, fertilizer, but the rice growth is still not good.

Someone gave him a calculation, summer wheat harvest less than 1000 pounds, a loss of 400 yuan, while the autumn yield loss has been a foregone conclusion, the loss is even greater. Even doubling the application of organic fertilizer in the future, to restore the vitality of this land, it will take at least five years, the economic loss of at least 20,000 or more. So a calculation, the middle-aged crop man cried out, regretfully said: "I should have known this, when really should not earn this piece of good land of black money.
