Knowing and complying with the law-Woodmam
I met a female lawyer at a conference to mark March 8 Women's Day. She is Chi Fengsheng from Fengsheng Law Firm in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, a representative of the National People's Congress.
During our conversation, Ms Chi told me about an incident in which
Four male students were playing on the street, and one of them, a student with a bad record, said, "Come on, I'll take you for a ride!" So the four of them got into a "noodle car". On the way, the boy with the bad record sitting in front of the car suddenly flashed a dagger and shouted at the driver, "Hand over the money!" As soon as the 3 boys sitting behind the car saw this scene, they started to stare and immediately said, "Dude, we have to help!" So together the 3 men also shouted, "Hand over the money!" The driver was forced to hand over the money, but later went to the Public Security Bureau and reported the incident, and the 4 men were arrested. The boy with the bad record was found guilty of robbery, and the other three students were also found guilty of "participating" in the crime by shouting "hand over the money" and were also sentenced. One of the boys pleaded not guilty to the charge and was sentenced to an additional year in prison.
The parents of the three students were devastated when they came to me to 'save' their children," said Mr Chi. This was their only child! My child is about the same age as theirs, can I not be heartbroken? Please tell the children that they must have a sense of the rule of law, that not every joke can be played or every favour done, and that they must think about the consequences before they do anything!"
I think you will understand from listening to Lawyer Chi's words that we live in a society where the rule of law prevails and everyone has to obey the law. If you break the law, no matter who you are, you will be punished by the law. In future, we must think about the consequences and think twice before we act.
"What do you think about?
Think about whether you should do this favour or not. Don't just talk about buddy-buddy loyalty and advise against doing a favour that you shouldn't do.
Secondly, should we do this thing or not? Don't just follow the blind, don't do what you shouldn't do.
Thirdly, is it illegal to do so? Don't just want to have a moment of pleasure, but don't do anything illegal.
